A turnout coat (also known as a bunker coat or fire jacket) is a highly specialized piece of Firefighter Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). It serves as a first responder's primary line of defense against flashovers, extreme heat, falling debris, water, and hazardous chemicals.

• Drag Rescue Device (DRD): A built-in webbed harness loop tucked neatly under a flap below the collar. It allows a downed firefighter to be quickly dragged to safety by a partner.
• High-Visibility Trim: Double-stitched, retroreflective safety stripes (typically lime/yellow and orange) arranged in a distinct pattern to optimize visibility in low-light or smoke-filled environments.
• Heavy-Duty Closures: A layered storm flap system combining heavy-gauge zippers, hooks-and-loops, or brass snaps to eliminate gaps where extreme heat could penetrate the jacket.
