A foam chamber is an air-aspirating fire suppression device permanently mounted to the upper shell of vertical, fixed-roof liquid storage tanks. Classified by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 11 standard as a Type II discharge outlet, its primary function is to deliver low-expansion firefighting foam directly onto the surface of flammable or combustible liquids to smother fires.
